RAPID Centre for International Trade (RCIT) is a dedicated research hub within RAPID, focused on advancing both theoretical and empirical research in international trade with a strong emphasis on policy relevance. Our mission is to generate impactful insights that can inform trade and macroeconomic policies and development strategies, addressing pressing global and local economic challenges. In addition to fostering rigorous research, RCIT serves as a platform for emerging scholars and young researchers in economics and related social sciences, offering them the opportunity to share their work through a monthly webinar series. Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, RCIT aims to bridge the gap between academic research and practical policy solutions, promoting sustainable and inclusive economic development.

    Events

    RAPID Monthly Webinar Series

    As part of its initiatives to encourage young researchers and bridge the gap between young and senior professionals, Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID), with support from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), hosts RAPID Monthly Webinar Series. This series features young researchers seeking expert feedback on their research endeavors. The webinars are chaired by Dr M Abu Eusuf, Executive Director, RAPID and Professor, Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka, and moderated by Dr Md Deen Islam, Research Director, RAPID and Associate Professor, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka. Conducted on the online platform Zoom, these 60-minute webinars provide an interactive platform for emerging scholars and research enthusiasts from various disciplines and regions. Each session is broadcast live on RAPID's official Facebook page.

  • Prospective Visiting Scholars

    The Visiting Scholars’ Program at the RAPID Center for International Trade (RCIT) is designed to provide an opportunity for accomplished scholars, academics, and researchers with a proven track record in international trade and development studies. The program seeks to create a platform for scholars to contribute to RCIT’s ongoing research activities and to foster a mutually enriching collaboration in areas of shared interest.
    Scholars with expertise in international trade, trade policy, and economic development are encouraged to apply, with particular emphasis on topics aligned with RCIT’s current research priorities. The program aims to offer a valuable academic experience while establishing long-term relationships with the Visiting Scholars.
    Program Details:
    Duration: The Visiting Scholars’ Program is typically offered for a period of 3 to 12 months, with flexible start dates depending on the availability of both RCIT and the scholar.
    RCIT Facilities and Support:
    Visiting Scholars will be provided with the following:
    1. Workspace and Facilities: A dedicated workspace, computer access, and other necessary logistical support.
    2. Access to Academic Resources: Full access to RCIT’s databases, and research documentation.
    3. Research Support: Assistance with research resources and data as agreed upon in the scholar’s activity plan.
    4. Focal Point: A designated focal person to assist the Visiting Scholar with coordination and support during the fellowship.
    Expectations of the Visiting Scholar:
    During their tenure at RCIT, Visiting Scholars are expected to:
    1. Undertake Research: Conduct independent or collaborative research on a specific area aligned with RCIT’s research priorities.
    2. Provide Research Support: Contribute to ongoing research projects at RCIT by offering feedback, insights, and expertise.
    3. Prepare Proposals: Draft concept notes, research proposals, and project ideas for potential future collaborations between RCIT and external partners.
    4. Peer Review: Offer peer review services for research outputs produced by RCIT researchers and affiliates.
    5. Mentorship and Capacity Building: Mentor junior researchers at RCIT and contribute to their professional development.
    6. Present Research Findings: Share findings and insights at RCIT-organized seminars and workshops, providing a platform for knowledge exchange.
    7. Represent RCIT: Represent RCIT at academic events, meetings, and seminars as requested by the management team.
    8. Other Collaborative Activities: Engage in other mutually agreed-upon activities that enhance the research and development capacities of both RCIT and the Visiting Scholar.
