Samia Islam Borsha is an aspiring economist currently employed as a Research Associate at Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID). She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). In 2022, Ms. Samia was one of the Trainee Research Associates selected for the highly competitive Young Researchers' Fellowship program offered by BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD). Prior to BIGD, she worked as a Research Assistant at BUP. Additionally, she completed her internship from BRAC International at the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit.
She has experience in impact evaluation research projects. In addition, Ms. Samia has a published paper titled "Estimating the Cost and Challenges of Online Education for Students During Covid-19: A Survey of Selected Universities in Bangladesh" in the Jahangirnagar Economic Review Journal.
Her skill set encompasses various aspects of research, including writing research documents, training enumerators, supervising fieldwork, conducting Focus Group Discussions (FGD), developing survey questionnaires, and conducting bench testing. On the technical side, she has proficiency in using STATA for data cleaning and analysis.
Her passion to make a visible impact on society induced her interest in the research particularly in the areas of labor markets, social policy, poverty, and inequality.
